LOKUM

My debut novel!

With much humility and gratitude, I am excited to publish my first novel with Dundurn Press, which was released on February 24, 2026. The book is available now and can be ordered through your local bookstore or via the Dundurn Press website.

Lokum (pronounced lo-KOOM) is a fictional tale meant to remind us of the power of our community to uplift and reorient us in times of difficulty. Explore the districts of Istanbul and Turkish culture, meet interesting strangers who share their own journeys through life, and experience how wisdom is exchanged through storytelling.

Every year, the Turkish Society of Canada volunteers visit the patients at Sick Kids Hospital on International Children's Day to give them a break from routine by teaching a traditional craft - rug weaving! Participants did an incredible job mastering the technique on customized looms. The TSC is happy to host free workshops for any organization that wishes to learn Turkish cultural practices.

"Artifacts in the Archives" Research Paper - Conference Presentations
Picture
Artifacts in your archival vaults need a more unique approach to collections care. Are you satisfied with how your artifacts are being managed? Inherently, challenges arise when artifacts are kept within an archival environment, which are cared for through practices that are meant to support archival materials. An intensive research project focused on improving the care, documentation, and registration of artifacts housed within an archival environment, and corresponding institutional workflows. The research will be published in Fall 2026 and is presented at two professional events: The Archives Association of Ontario (May 2026, in-person) and the Association of Canadian Archivists (June 2026, virtual) conferences. The presentation summarizes investigative efforts and suggestions for archival institutions with mixed object collections. Follow along with a case study to learn about how archival practice can include more artifact-friendly approaches to collections management.
